At Agape, we’re committed to the mission of helping animals. While much of our work deals with fostering and assisting in the adoption process, we also work to support the community itself. Financial hardships can be devastating for a family. In order to assist people who are going through these and other difficulties, we’ve established a Community Kibble Program. Our goal is to help these families keep their pets by providing them with pet food for a short period of time. Sometimes, this food can be the difference between a person keep a pet or having to give him or her away. The goal of this program is to prevent anyone from ever having to make this difficult and heartbreaking decision.
Since September 2008, there have been over 4.4 million foreclosures in the United States. It’s estimated that over a quarter of these cases involve a pet being relinquished or abandoned. The prospects for these animals are often dire, and can result in starvation, injury and, in the case of many shelters, euthanasia. Our program seeks to offer an alternative which is ideal for both the family and for the pet, by removing the financial burden of providing food for the animal.
If you or someone you know is currently suffering from extreme financial hardship, and you are at risk of losing your pet, please visit our website and fill out our Community Kibble application. Or if you would like to donate food to the program, please contact us at [email protected].
While we work to help find forever homes for all of our dogs here at Agape, we also sincerely hope to support our community. Our Community Kibble Program is a way for us to assist families in the community so that they can keep their beloved pets, and in doing so, give them a long and happy life.
